JAIS: Weddings Involving Shia in Selangor Under Control

SHAH ALAM, 25 Dec: The issue of weddings involving followers of Shia in Selangor is still at a controlled rate and there are only isolated incidences.

The Chief Assistant Director of the Family Law Division of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), Aluwi Parman, said however, JAIS is always monitoring developments from time to time and will act to overcome it for future generations.

“JAIS does not have any statistical record about this Shia wedding issue. Even if we do, they are only isolated cases,” he said in a press conference after the State Level Muzakarah Expert on Shia and Sunni Weddings Programme at the Grand Bluewave Hotel yesterday.

Meanwhile, the JAIS Deputy Director, Zaki Arshad, said that so far, in the Klang Valley, there are 29 heresy teachings that are in contradiction with the Sunnah Wal Jamaah identified.

He said, due to that, JAIS has acted by holding more programmes to give clarification on the spreading of the teaching.

“JAIS takes this matter seriously because it is very dangerous to the faith of followers.

“Next year, JAIS will increase programmes to curb the heresy from spreading among the community,” he said.

In the programme, about 300 participants from various departments debated on the Sunni and Shia wedding issue,

Its purpose was to provide exposure and clarification regarding the issue to the public as well as to find a solution in handling this issue to avoid confusion among the people.

Among debaters were; the State Aqidah Control Committee Member, Mashadi Masyuti and the Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Zamihan Mat Zin Al Ghari.
