Royal Tea Reception Celebrates Government Pensioners

KLANG December 8th: A total of 1,200 government retirees attended the Royal Tea Reception in conjunction with the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s 68th birthday at the Istana Alam Shah today.

The event, which was organized for the third time, is the brainchild of Sultan Sharafuddin and the retirees did not lose any opportunity to mingle closely with him.

4.1

These former government civil servants come from various positions such as technicians, clerical, department heads and the Chief Secretary to involve all sectors.

The retirees invited to the event consisted of those who reside in the district of Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat and Klang.

Also present were; the Selangor Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and his wife, Puan Sri Salbiah Tunut; Retired Government Workers Association of Malaysia’s President Tan Sri Wan Mahmood Pawan Teh: State Secretary Datuk Khusrin Munawi and Organising Committee Chairman Datuk Emran Kadir .

Emran said pensioners living in Selangor should be proud of Sultan Sharafuddin’s attentiveness, which gave reason to organise the event.

According to Emran,even though it has been a long time since they left government service, the opportunity to attend the event provided a chance for them to interact with the Sultan.

“It reflects his attentiveness for the pensioners who have contributed their devotion to progress and peace for the country and the state.”

“We can also strengthen relations by giving old friends a chance to reunite after a long separation,” he said.

During the event, a memory book containing personal details such as the address and telephone number of the attendees were distributed among the pensioners to open up a social space for them to keep in contact with one another.

The celebrations began with the song of Selangor, followed by a speech by Former Chief of Police Tun Hanif Omar as representative of the pensioners while the Win Orchestra of Sekolah Alam Shah, Putrajaya provided background music as entertainment during the dining session.
