Sultan of Selangor: People Should Maintain the State’s Progress

KLANG, 11 Dec: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, wants the people of Selangor to play a role in maintaining the progress of the state and respect the practice of religious freedom, and not arouse suspicion.

He said that the people are not allowed to touch on sensitive issues that cause anger or any unwanted incidents.

“The intellectuals and scholars should understand that matters that are sensitive are suspicious. In addition, they also need to avoid from issuing statement which can rattle the people of Selangor to a point of disrupting harmony,” the Sultan said.

Sultan Sharafuddin said this at the Tea Reception with the People in conjunction with his 68th birthday at Padang Mahkota, the Shah Alam Palace, today.

Also celebrating his birthday were state government leaders, led by the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, the Selangor Executive Council line-up, Assemblymen, government officers and the people.

He said that Selangor is the most advanced state in Malaysia due to peace which has been maintained all these while.

“I call upon the people of Selangor to take this opportunity to continue to reach and improve, as well as explore things that are higher so that (the state) will continue to be developed and be the best in Malaysia,” he said.

At the same time, the people of Selangor have been urged to work together with the police to combat crime in the state.

He said that the police is working hard to fight crime in Selangor and that they work hard to ensure that the peace in the state is maintained.

“I call upon the people of Selangor to assist and cooperate with the police to combat crime in the state,” he said.
