Attacks on DAP, Evidence BN Is Diverting the Issue of Rising Prices

SHAH ALAM, 20 Jan: The actions of pro-Barisan Nasional (BN) bloggers in attacking DAP in issues involving race and religion clearly proves that they are once again trying to divert the issue of rising prices.

This enables them to regain support among party supporters who are also angry with the actions of their leaders.

The Member of Parliament for Kulai, Teo Nie Ching, said that this irresponsible move is clearly disappointing and only makes DAP a ‘Punching Bag’.

“I think that Umno will now blame DAP for any issues concerning religion and race. This is their tactic and everyone knows that currently, the people are burdened by the ‘Increase in Price of Goods’.

“So they want to play the race and religion card so that they can unite their supporters,” she said.

He said what is more disappointing is when bloggers are willing to invent stories that DAP is trying to divide Muslims in Johor.

“Whatever happens in Johor, they associate it with DAP. Allegations have also been thrown on the actions of Penang Assemblymen who allegedly want the recurrence of the May 13 incident.

“Actually, all this has nothing to do with DAP, but they blame everything related to the issues of religion and race on us. DAP is actually their ‘punching bag’,” she told Selangor Kini today.

DAP had lodged a police report in Kulai Jaya yesterday through the DAP Political Secretary, Lim Kit Siang, against an article by a blogger who said ‘DAP is becoming stronger in Johor, the stronger Islam will be divided’.

Commenting on the incident where a Muslim teacher had to take off her tudung (veil) if she wanted to teach in Johor, she said that the matter is the actions of an individual and does not involve political parties.

She did not agree with the actions of the principal at the said Chinese Vernacular School (SJKC) and said that everyone needs to respect other religions in this country.
