PKR: MPP Never Urged Abdul Khalid to Withdraw, Sin Chew Report Untrue

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 Jan: The newspaper report by Sin Chew Daily yesterday which alleged that the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Central Leadership Council (MPP) wants Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to withdraw from the Selangor Chief Minister (CM) seat is not true.

The PKR Secretary-General, Datuk Saifuddin Nasution, said that the party takes the false report by the newspaper seriously.

“I am referring to the Sin Chew Jit Poh evening edition yesterday (22 January 2014) entitled ‘MPP PKR wants Khalid to Withdraw, Selangor will change CM’.

“PKR takes the content and assumptions in the report seriously. However, I am clarifying here that the MPP referred to in the report did not make the decision to agree to replace Abdul Khalid as the Chief Minister of Selangor,” he said in a press conference held at the PKR Headquarters today.

He said that the meeting held on 15 January only discussed several issues, including the license fees in Selangor, the Selangor water assets reorganisation under Section 114 f the Water Services Act 2006 (WSIA), the status of the Langat 2 construction, swiftlet farming and the increase of allowance for Selangor Assemblymen and Executive Councillors.

“Because MPP did not decide of the issue related to the Selangor CM, no issue has come up about the Assemblyman for Bukit Antarabangsa, Mohamed Azmin Ali to be appointed as the Chief Minister’s replacement,” he said.

He said that issues regarding Selangor are often discussed in PKR MPP seeing that it is the only state led by PKR.

“Selangor is the only state with its Chief Minister being from PKR. So, of course MPP is concerned and shows strong interest regarding any issues happening in Selangor, and this meeting, on 15 January, was no exception,” he said.
