HULU KELANG, 22 Feb: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) will focus on obtaining a larger majority in the Kajang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) by-election clash compared to the victory in the 13th General Election on May 2013.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that he welcomed MCA’s participation in this by-election, however believes that the goal can be achieved by PR, which placed the Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as the candidate.

“We welcome MCA’s decision although we hoped that the will not contest for fear of losing, that is why we have ordered our movement to be towards gaining support for the people of Kajang to vote us.

“I think that MCA’s purpose in placing a candidate is so that they are not left behind in the country’s economy, I see that their hopes are not very optimistic,” he said to the media after the Selangorku Homes Ground-breaking Ceremony.

Abdul Khalid, who is also the Kajang DUN Director of Elections, said that he urged the party machinery to double efforts to achieve the target of winning a large majority.

Yesterday, the BN Deputy Chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, announced that the former deputy minister, Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun from MCA, will be the BN representative in the Kajang DUN by-election.

Earlier, the former minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, also expresses his wish to contest.

The Kajang DUN by-election will take place on 23 March, while the nomination will take place on 11 March.
