On the 15th of March 2014, Hannah Yeoh launched the opening of a new library at Goodyear Court 2 flats in USJ 6. This library project will provide the children a condusive place to study and to do their homeworks (which may be lacking in their small flats). The library is open every Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm. Children can also request the JMB to open the library on weekends if they want to study. This library also provides two units of computers and printer for the children to use. RM7500 has been donated by Hannah Yeoh’s office for this library.
This library is part of our continuous effort to uplift the standard of living of the children in Good Year Court 2. In year 2011, a free tuition program was launched at Goodyear Court 2 as a joint community project initiative between Hannah Yeoh’s office and Asian Youth Ambassadors (AYA). 25 AYA volunteers who are young working adults teach 44 children weekly on Saturdays for 2 hours. The tuition subjects taught are English and Mathematics. Beginning this year, JMB also joined in this initiative and provided the venue for free. Hannah Yeoh also donated another RM8000 to upgrade and equip the tuition centre.
A similar tuition program is also coordinated and managed by AYA volunteers in Angsana flats, USJ 1 with the same partnership concept.
At the moment, donation is needed for items like computers, printers and airconds for the library and tuition centre in Good Year Court 2. If anyone is interested to donate, they may contact the JMB of Goodyear Court 2 or Hannah Yeoh’s office 03-56312768.
