“We lost a good person who said that the law is a guide for countries to achieve justice and fairness.

“Karpal is an example of a human being who implements the principles of law,” said Abdul Khalid when met at the house of Karpal Singh at 144A, Jalan Utama.

Meanwhile, the Executive Councillor of Youth and Sports, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, also expressed condolences to Karpal Singh’s whole family.

Yunus described the late Karpal as a senior politician who was highly respected by friends and foe, a practitioner of law who is wise and great at arguing, as well as a friend with principles.

“Although I did not know him closely, but as a Pakatan Rakyat leader, I am certain and believe that he was definitely an easy person to be consensus on any factual argument and information that is true.

“Of course is he was like what he was defamed to be, a hater of Islam and Islamic law, how could there have been such kinship between the three parties in Pakatan Rakyat (PAS, DAP and PKR) be maintained to today,” he said in a statement.

Karpal, who was also a prominent lawyer, was killed in an accident on the North-South Highwar near Gua Tempurung, Gopeng, early yesterday morning.

Karpal, 74, dies in at the scene of the crash, which occurred around 1am, and also took the life of his assistant, Michael Cornelius, 39 years old.
