Also present was the State Government Secretary (SUK), Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi, Executive Council Members and representatives from Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and Barisan Nasional (BN).

On 23 March, Wan Azizah, who is also the PKR President, won in the Kajang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) by-election, defeating the BN candidate, Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, with a majority of 5,379 votes.

Wan Azizah received 16,741 votes while Mei Fun received 11,362 votes.

The Kajang by-election was held after the Kajang Assemblyman, Lee Chin Cheh from PKR, resigned on 27 January after paving way for the PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to contest.

However, Wan Azizah was appointed as the new Kajang Assemblywoman after replacing Anwar when the Opposition Leader was declared ineligible to contest for being found guilty in a case involving his personal assistant at the Court of Appeal.

During the 13th General Election (GE13), Lee won with a majority of 6,824 votes in a six-cornered clash with BN, Berjasa and three independent candidates.
