Puchong Perdana records 104 dengue cases as of May 20

SHAH ALAM, 25 MAY: Residents of apartments under the administration of Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) was asked to focus on maintaining the cleanliness of their residential areas so that they are not exposed to the dangers of dengue fever.

This is because of the 250 dengue fever cases recorded from January till May 20th in five different residential areas in Puchong under the administration of Subang Jaya Municipal Council(MPSJ). The highest number of cases recorded is from Puchong Perdana with 104 cases.

MPSJ President, Datuk Asmawi Kasbi said awareness among residents is important and MPSJ also plays an important role in maintaining cleanliness, to ensure Aedes mosquitoes will not be able to breed at waste disposal locations.

He spoke earlier about the dangers of dengue fever before officiating a Celebrity Spring Cleaning to Combat Aedes Mosquitoes event, organized by MPSJ in collaboration with Taman Puchong Permai residents.

“The objective of this program is to reduce the number of dengue cases under the administration of MPSJ and also to create awareness regarding the dangers of dengue fever among residents.

“Besides that, we would also like to educate the community to be collectively responsible in maintaining cleanliness and to encourage them to participate in more spring cleaning activities,” he said.

He also said that residents who rent properties are less concern about the cleanliness of their homes as they feel that it is not their permanent homes, as compared to residents who bought their properties.

The spring cleaning event also involved volunteers from University Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Aman Shah Asri or better known as Am Raja Lawak.
