Selangor Structure Plan 2035 to drive economic plan for 20 years

SHAH ALAM, 145 May: The State Government will hold a meeting to improve research for the Selangor Structure Plan 2035, which will replace the Selangor Structure Plan 2020, on May 20.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that the discussion will be divided into four groups which will be led by members of the exco with their respective portfolios

He said that this discussion is to ensure the provision study done truly caters to the current needs and is more comprehensive

“The plan will be used to replace the current Selangor Structure Plan 2020 in becoming the main reference for the state’s physical planning and help drive economic growth the next 20 years.

“All Exco members and about 150 officers from technical agencies will hold a meeting on May 20 to discuss the draft and make improvements,” he said during a press conference at the SUK Building today.

Abdul Khalid said that the draft will be open to the public and stakeholders to gain insight, feedback, suggestions or objection within a month, in accordance with Act 172 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1976.

The plan is an integrated planning research that involves 20 planning sectors, in line with Act 172.

Selangor Structure Plan 2035 will involve various aspects from transportation and traffic, housing, physical land use, business and services, industry, tourism, community facilities, environmental protection and the development of infrastructure and utilities.

“The Selangor Structure Plan 2035 is very important in view of the state being the most advanced and accounts for almost a quarter of gross domestic product (GDP) of Malaysia.

“The study was initiated on June 4, 2012 with a series of workshops and technical meetings with government departments and agencies including bordering states,” he said.
