Expansion of cabinet burdens the people, replace ministers who have not met KPI

SHAH ALAM, 26 June: The expansion of the Federal Government cabinet proves the leadership weakness of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, as he should replace existing ministers who have not met Key Performance Indicators (KPI).

The PKR Communications Director, Fahmi Fadzil, said that the expansion of the cabinet is a move that burdens the people because the amount of provisions will increase and the deficit budget next year is expected to further increase.

“He should inform the people about the KPI of existing ministers and deputy ministers because it is believed that many among the people feel that there are ministers whose service should not be continued.

“Unfortunately, his move to expand the size of his cabinet proves that he is quite weak and is not able to perform a reform or transformation, everything is out of date,” he told the media.

The Assemblyman for Seri Setia, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, said that the Prime Minister should bring in leaders from Barisan Nasional component parties into the cabinet by switching out current ministers who have not performed well.

Following that, Ministers in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) have now increased to 10 people, compared to only eight people prior to this, and on average, it has never reached 8 people during the time of Tun Abdullah Badawi and Tun Mahathir Mohamed.

The direct impact of the expansion is an increase in the country’s operating budget of RM166,563 a month and an overall amount to employ cabinet members that reaches almost RM10 million a month.
