MBSA issues 1,537 bazaar permits in conjunction with the Ramadan month

SHAH ALAM, 20 June: In conjunction with the upcoming Ramadan month, the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has issued 1,537 Ramadan bazaar permits to traders for 27 locations under their jurisdiction.

The Deputy Corporate Director, Shahrin Ahmad, said that MBSA has also taken several initiatives to ensure that traders focus on the important aspects of hygiene and health.

He said that MBSA will also improve monitoring at Ramadan bazaar areas to ensure that traders comply with the rules and regulations set through regular monitoring.

“We will control traffic and also, employees from the Department of Licensing and Enforcement will monitor in terms of licensing, and staff from the Urban Services Department will examine in terms of hygiene and the preparation of food and beverages.

“Traders are advised to follow the rules and regulations like using aprons and hats when during the course of business, providing trash cans and trash plastic bags at trading sites, as well as to not leave business equipment such as chairs, tables and tents at the trading sites after business,” he said in a statement.

From June 17 till yesterday, the Briefing Session and Permit Presentation to everyone eligible was held at the MBSA Auditorium and was carried out by the Mayor, Datuk Mohd Jaafar Mohd Atan.

The MBSA Ramadan Bazaars are located at the Bazarena Site at the Shah Alam Stadium, Section 13, with 274 traders; the car park at Jalan 28/5, Section 28 (111 traders) and the night market site at Jalan 17/20, Section 17 (109 traders).

The fee charged for the permits vary according to types of businesses; RM215 for selling food and beverages, RM440 for selling sugarcane juice or coconut water, RM440 for selling fire grilled food and RM505 for selling roasted chicken.

“Traders and assistants must receive the anti-typhoid (TY2) vaccination.

“Traders are also only allowed to conduct business at the approved areas and have been asked to preserve the cleanliness of the business site or a fine will be imposed if traders leave the site dirty or uncleared,” he added.
