MBSA provides counters to collect used cooking oil

SHAH ALAM, 2 July: In conjunction with the 1435H Ramadan month, the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has provided counters to collect used cooking oil.

Its Deputy Corporate Director, Shahrin Ahmad, said that the counters are open at the Shah Alam Stadium Ramadan bazaar, here in Section 13.

He said that the effort is to encourage the public, especially bazaar traders, to not throw away used cooking oil.

“On the other hand, traders and also the public, especially visitors, can hand the oil over to counters provided by MBSA.

“We want to create awareness and educate the visitors and traders to practice a healthy diet and to not use the same cooking oil repeatedly,” he said in a statement.

The used cooking oil collection counters are open throughout the Ramadan month, from 4.00 pm to 7.00 at night.

For any queries regarding the cooking oil collection counters, traders and the public can contact the Public Cleaning Division, MBSA, at 03-5510 5133 extension 1570 or 1271.

Referring to the MBSA website, the cooking oil recycling programme was first implemented in areas under MBSA, since 2009 until now.

MBSA provides containers to collect used cooking oil at various locations, such as the Recycling Centres in Section 6, Section 11, Section 17, Section 25 and Section U8.

In addition, MBSA has also provided services for sending and retrieving containers for the collection of cooking oil at restaurants, canteens, food factories, hotels, and the capacity of the containers are 60 litres, 200 litres and 1,000 litres.
