Water supply for Pulau Ketam & Sg Lima back in operation after 32 days of outage

SHAH ALAM, 22 July: Pulau Ketam and Sungai Lima now received water supply normally after an outage of 32 days following a burst pipe on the seabed.

The Syabas Assistant Manager of the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Priscilla Alfred, said that the detection of the leak and the pipe reparation works were fully completed at 5pm yesterday.

She said that after cleaning the pipeline, consumers began receiving water supply since 1am this morning.

“The reparation of the pipe took quite a long time to complete because of the difficulty in locating the pipe and leakage on the seabed, in addition to it happening at two locations.

“Syabas also fully understands the difficulties faced by consumers, especially in the areas involved.

“Thanks to all consumers for understanding and for your patience in facing this situation, as well as the cooperation given to Syabas throughout this disruption,” she said in a statement.

Since June 21, the whole of Pulau Ketam and Sungai Lima experienced an unscheduled water outage due to a burst pipe at the seabed on the 18 kilometre pipeline.

The re-connection of the pipeline was fully completed, with the last connection of the pipe being fully completed on July 11, before the same pipeline was damaged again at a different location due to drilling at the seabed by a third party.
