5 areas in Selangor record moderate API

SHAH ALAM, 1 Aug: The Air Pollutant Index (API) at several areas across the country, including Selangor, recorded a moderate reading as of 9 this morning.

According to the Department of Environment (DOE) website, 24 areas experienced moderate reading.

In Selangor, the five areas with moderate readings are Banting (60), Kuala Selangor (60), Port Klang (63), Petaling Jaya (55) and Shah Alam (55).

Also recording a moderate API is the Federal Territory involving the areas of Batu Muda (65), Cheras (57) and Putrajaya (53).

Other areas experiencing the same problem include Sungai Petani (60), Nilai (58), Balok Baru (54), Ipoh (61), Taiping (74) and Perai (54), as well as Kemaman (51).

For Sabah and Sarawak, it includes Keningau (52), Miri (55), Kuching (66), Samarahan (69), Sibu (59) and Sri Aman (84).

The API reading of between 0 and 50 are catregorised as good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (hazardous).

The public can refer to http://www.doe.gov.my to know the current API readings in each area.
