Despite the darkness, Anwar continued to speak in front of thousands of attendees

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 Oct: The Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, spoke in front of about 3,000 attendees in the dark at Dataran Dewan Tunku Canselor, University of Malaya (UM), with all the lights off, except for the street lights.

Anwar arrived at UM at about 9.35 pm to participate in the40 Years From the University of Malaya (UM) To Jail programme.

He was accompanied by his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and his daughter, Nurul Izzah Anwar.

Anwar ended his speech at about 10.30 pm.

Meanwhile, thousands of students managed to open the gates of UM to allow them to enter the campus to hear Anwar’s speech.

Anwar, with his family, arrived in a four-wheel drive vehicle and they proceeded to the Dewan Tunku Canselor.

Among the leaders seen include the MP of Petaling Jaya Selatan, Hee Loy Sean, and PKR supporters who were in a car and had the audio system on.

Also seen was the Selangor Exco, Dr Daroyah Alwi; the Assemblywoman for Kuala Sepetang, Chua Yee Ling; the Assemblywoman for Rawang, Gan Pei Nei; the Chief of Malaysian Youth Solidarity, Badrul Hisham Shahrin; student activist Safwan Anang and lecturer Dr Azmi Sharom who was monitoring.
