Provisions to repair sports facilities up by 8 times

KLANG, 18 Oct: Provisions to repair sports facilities in the state will be increased up to eight times compared to previous provisions.

The Executive Councillor in charge of Youth Development, Sports, Culture and Entrepreneurship, Amirudin Shari, said that the increase in development expenditure is done to meet the needs of every sports complex owned by the state in every district.

“Last year, the provisions to repair was around RM800 thousand. But for next year, it will be increased. I cannot announce the amount but it will be increased up to seven or eight times compared to previous provisions,” he said.

Amirudin said this to reporters when visiting the Pandamaran Hockey Stadium yesterday.

Also present was the Selangor Hockey Association President, Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal, the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) Director of Engineering, Zamri Othman, and the Selangor State Sports Council (MSN) Executive Director, Shamsul Shahril Badliza Mohd Noor.

Commenting further, Amirudin said that they are thinking of an approach to control supervision for all sports facilities in Selangor.

“It is time the state government thinks of establishing a secretariat or a body with the task of managing all sports assets that we own.

“With the existence of such a body, the question of maintaining all sports facilities can be supervised efficiently,” he said.
