SHAH ALAM, 13 Oct: The Selangor Water Supply Company (Syabas) expects for the scheduled water supply disruption at the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant (WTP), involving consumers in Sepang, Hulu Langat and Petaling, to fully end tomorrow morning.

The General Manager of the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Department, Priscilla Alfred, said that so far, only the water supply in the area of Taman Bukit Gita Bayu, Semenyih, has not fully recovered.

“The scheduled water supply disruption in the areas involved is due to emergency work carried out by the Sungai Semenyih WTP by Konsortium ABASS Sdn Bhd (ABASS) and the upgrading of the distribution system by SYABAS,” she explained.

Meanwhile, at the Sungai Langat WTP, Puncak Niaga Sdn Bhd has successfully fully completed emergency pump repairs at 2pm today.

“At the moment, the pump is operational as usual and channeling treated water to tanks and major ponds are in the process.

“Syabas expects areas affected by this incident to be recovered fully later today,” she explained.

In other developments, the Ampang Intake WTP has been flooded by water due to overflow from Sungai Ampang from heavy rain yesterday (October 12, 2014) thus enabling it to be operational again at 12.45 midnight the same day.

The temporary closure of the treatment plant at 6.16 yesterday evening has caused the water supply to Kampung Ampang Indah, Kampung Indah Permai and Taman Mulia Jaya to be affected and Syabas expects the water supply to be fully recovered by tomorrow morning.
