He said that after reading the media statement by SIS, Mohamed Azmin contacted the Dato’ Seri Utama Di Raja Mufti of Selangor to obtain clarification on the matter.

“The issue was then discussed at the Selangor Royal Council meeting which coincidentally took place on November 3 to seek clarification directly from the Mufti and the Chairman of MAIS.

“It should be reminded that I am not a member of the Selangor Fatwa Committee and the Chief Minister’s Office has no power matters of fatwa,” said Mohamed Azmin in a media statement.

Mohamed Azmin said that he hopes that consultations and meeting carried out without prejudice can help bring harmony, as recommended by Islam.
