Do not let the culture of chisel and hammer continue

SHAH ALAM, 26 Nov: The staff of the government should instil standards in their own work and not only act after being instructed.

Yaakob Sapari (PKR-Kota Anggerik) said that the chisel and hammer culture cannot be allowed to continue and government employees are obliged to carry out the mandate as made responsible at all times.

“For example, prior to this Pulau Ketam was dirty, but when the Chief Minister was to visit, it became clean.

“Also in areas under the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), there is no reason to be dirty because every inch has contractors paid by public funds.

“If officers patrol using motorcycles, they might not see the trash and potholes,” he said during the Selangor State Assembly today.

At the same time, Yaakob called for the development expenditure to be utilised to the maximum, as provided in the Selangor Budget 2015.

“Like now, the performance of the development expenditure is very low and only 63 percent has been used as of this month, when there is only another month before 2014 ends.

“There is no meaning to large provisions if the implementing agency cannot spend it. Hopefully, the new Chief Minister can improve the performance of development by at least 99 percent because the people are looking forward to this,” he said.
