SHAH ALAM, 26 Nov: The state government has been urged to set up a special team of local volunteers to ensure that health related issues can be addressed.

Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (PKR-Kajang) said that the establishment if the team is seen as being capable of addressing problems such as dengue.

She said that at the same time, the people should also be made aware of civic conscious knowledge.

“If the members of the local authority and the Selangor Health Department are not enough, set up a local volunteer team to monitor and clean up breeding grounds.

“We are concerned about the civic consciousness of Malaysians that eventually result in the environment being dirty.

“This would eventually contribute to other problems such as flash floods,” she said during the debate session at the Selangor State Assembly today.

Dr Wan Azizah also suggested for the state government to establish a standard committee that is chaired by the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali.

“The Chief Minister should be the chairman, not as a polemic but it is a responsibility and trust,” she said.
