Create R&R to popularise cycling

SEPANG, 15 Feb: The establishment of a Rest and Relaxation (R&R) facility in Kampung Asam Kumbang, Kuala Kubu Bharu, planned by the state government is to encourage cycling among the public, especially fans of the sport.

The Exco for Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Consumer Affairs, Elizabeth Wong, said that the location was specifically chosen for the construction of the R&R because it was found to be suitable and a focus place for this group.

“It involves those who love cycling,” she told Selangor Kini yesterday.

Elizabeth said that currently there is no plan to build the same R&R at other areas because they want to focus on this area so that the public will use the facilities provided.

She said that through this approach, the R&R will be more known and visited by many people, while making cycling more popular.

“So far, no. But we will be supporting this R&R first because it is said to be the area for recreational cycling,” she said.

Elaborating, she said that the state government wishes to practice green technology in the development of the state.

“For motorcycles? I choose green technology,” she said.

It is understood that the state government is establishing the R&R with an allocation of about RM50,000 to attract cycling enthusiasts and the general public.
