Bonus: MBPJ Council Members openly accept state government’s decision

SHAH ALAM, 6 Mar: The Council Members of the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) openly received the decision of the State Government Executive Council (MMKN) on the bonus payment to them and staff members of the local authority.

Council Member Azri Mohamad Arish said that although there are rules that proposals can be made in respect of the payment, they receive whatever decision by the MMKN.

“We accept the decision made even though it was actually appropriate. What was presented in the proposal was the five-year achievement and indeed MBPJ has shown an improvement.

“It is indeed reasonable for staff to receive rewards from the work shown,” he told Selangor Kini.

Ahmad Akhir Pawan Chik said that MBPJ only proposed to the MMKN and they have the right to make a decision, whether to accept or reject.

“For me, it not being approved is not a problem. What was proposed was according to MBPJ’s overall performance and not the performance of employees.

“According to a report by Merdeka Centre, all work, including residents’ complaints, were almost 78 percent resolved, so it is not that bad,” said the MBPJ Council Member.

Another Council Member, Shatiri Mansor, said that the decision of the MMKN needs to be accepted well.

“We strongly feel that a bonus should be given to employees who have helped MBPJ provide excellent service. However, the decision has been made by MMKN, so we have to accept it because the state government has the right to make the final decision,” Shatiri said.
