SHAH ALAM, 22 Mar: An overwhelming response from private property developers to build Selangorku Homes has made the state government optimistic that the target to build 15,000 units of affordable housing in two years can be achieved.
The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the state government is serious in cooperating with the private sector to achieve the target set in the interest of Selangorians.
“This is the second private developer after Sime Darby Property Berhad two days ago gave their commitment to build 2,403 housing units and today, IJM Land will build 2,330 housing units.
“In less than a week, we have already received guarantee from private property developers to support the state government’s intention to build 5,000 units of affordable housing.
“Next week, we will be launching another Affordable Housing project which will be built by W City with a commitment of 1,041 units,” he said.
He said this during a press conference after launching the Selangorku Homes in Bandar Rimbayu, Telok Panglima Garang, near here today.
Also present was the Exco for Housing, Building Management and Urban Living, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, and the Chief Executive Officer of IJM Land, Datuk Soam Heng Choon.
A total of 2,330 units of affordable housing will be built by IJM Land with prices starting at RM42,000 up to RM250,000 per unit.
