In facing the GST, the people are shocked by the RM1.5 billion maintenance cost of the PM’s private jet

SHAH ALAM, 31 Mar: Less than 12 hours before the goods and services tax (GST) comes into effect, the people are shocked by the disclosure that the maintenance cost of two of the Prime Minister’s personal jets amounts to RM1.563 billion for the next 15 years.

The Pandan Member of Parliament, Rafizi Ramli, who was released from police custody in less than 24 hours, revealed that the central government bears the maintenance, operation and management costs of the ACJ320 jet which was just purchased with RM690 million for a period of 15 years.

“The operation, management and maintenance (OMM) contract for the ACJ320 aircraft has been set at RM46 million a year.

“This means that for the next 15 years, the ACJ320 jet will cost RM690 million for maintenance, operation and management,” he said, taken from Keadilan Daily.

Rafizi explained that from 2007 to 2015, the people had to bear a cost of RM304 million for maintenance, operation and management costs for the existing private jet, the ACJ319.

This bring the total for the maintenance of both aircraft to RM1,098 billion.

“If this amount includes the hire-purchase payments for the ACJ320, the amount that the people would have to bear for both planes used by the Prime Minister would hit RM1.563 billion for the next 15 years,” said Rafizi.
