Landslide in Puchong, home almost destroyed

SHAH ALAM, 10 Mar: The owner of a two-storey terrace house in Taman Puchong Hartamas was lucky when his house was not badly damaged following the landslide yesterday.

The incident that happened about 6.00 pm yesterday is believed to have been caused by heavy rain over the past few days that eroded the slope that is located about 10 metres on the side of the house involved.

However, the landslide only hit the compound of the house and the road without causing property damage, injury and loss of life.

The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) Yang Dipertua, Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan, said that they have instructed the developer of the housing area to build a retaining wall to prevent the recurrence of this incident.

“I have instructed the Engineering Department to conduct continuous monitoring due to the rainy weather,” he said after surveying the area.

He said that the clearing of the landslide, drain and road has already been carried out by MPSJ.

Selangor Kini understands that the slope is located on the reserve land of the Selangor Water Supply Company (Syabas) pipeline.

“MPSJ has called the developer and Syabas to resolve this issue. Notices have been issued,” he said.
