Rafizi: “I have declared my assets, when will Najib?”

SHAH ALAM, 10 Mar: The PKR Secretary-General, Rafizi Ramli, today announced that he has made a statutory declaration (SD) to declare his assets, income and expenses in detail following the previous challenge from Umno leaders.

He said that the statutory declaration shows the relevant background on his income and position as a Member of Parliament, including before joining the political arena and becoming an elected representative.

He said that the details are also accompanied by documentary evidence consisting of bank statements, savings and it is displayed openly on his personal blog and social networking site for the public’s information.

“I believe that if I, someone who does not hold any government position and do not have power, can declare my assets, then it is a moral responsibility and trust for each Cabinet Minister, right up to the Prime Minister, to also declare assets, debts, income and also expenditure.

“I advise Datuk Seri Najib Razak to use this method to clear his name which is being associated with luxuries that are not compatible with his salary.

“If indeed he inherited a lot from the late Tun Abdul Razak, as in the Prime Minister’s Office statement, then he needs to detail the inheritance as I have,” he said.

Rafizi, who is also the PKR Vice-President, said that he is confident that the move to declare assets, as he has done, will gain full support from the people.

Rafizi declared his assets, income and expenses in detail following a challenge from the Cheras Division Umno Chief, Datuk Seri Syed Ali Alhabshee, to do so.

Syed Ali challenged Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders to declare their assets before criticising Najib’s wealth and other Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders.
