SPECIAL REPORT: Appoint a task force, prevent rent on rent

SHAH ALAM, 5 Mar: The appointment of a task force under responsible bodies should be done to ensure that there is no rent on rent involving People’s Housing Projects (PPRs).

Kota Damansara Assemblyman, Halimaton Saadiah Bohan, said that the task force can be placed under local authorities, Joint Management Bodies (JMBs) or the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS).

She said that this special team would conduct continuous monitoring and investigations on such cases.

“I suggest we appoint a special team to conduct investigations against these rent on rent tenants,” she said.

Halimaton said that the irresponsible attitude of these tenants will make it difficult for more low-income residents to wait for their turn to have PPRs.

She said that decisive action should be imposed on local tenants who rent their residential units to foreigners.

“This is a serious matter. Such things should not happen. This would mean that those who rent out to others have another house.

“So, decisive action must be taken. There are still many people waiting to stay at PPRs, for example in Section 8. So, it would be better for us to give it to those who are more qualified,” she said.
