CM: Putrajaya negligent in examining the water agreement draft

SHAH ALAM, 7 Apr: The negligence of the central government in examining the Selangor Water Restructuring Master Agreement is being disputed to a point where they claim that two water assets owned by them in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya are being ‘robbed’ by the state government.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the assets owned by the state government as well as land worth RM2 billion will be transferred to Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) to obtain cash to finance the acquisition of the concessionaires based on the master agreement signed.

He said that both these assets were included in the master agreement which was signed by Putrajaya with the state government in September 2014.

“This means that the central government and the state government agreed that the two water treatment plants (Semenyih and Bukit Nanas) are part of the assets owned by Air Selangor, while there is no robbing, as previously brought up be several individuals.

“The Honourable Port Klang must also agree that these assets were listed by himself as part of Air Selangor’s assets.

“Therefore, I believe that in the negotiation process between the state government and the central government led by Port Klang (Assemblyman), he should know what assets have been submitted to Putrajaya as stated in the main agreement titled assets owned by Air Selangor,” he said during the winding-up session of the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) session today.

Mohamed Azmin (PKR-Bukit Antarabangsa) also reiterated the fact that assets owned by the state government are listed in detail in the main agreement and agreed upon by the central government to be submitted to PAAB.

“If the allegation is true (robbing), would Umno leaders agree that the central government which signed the agreement was robbed?

“That is why I am saying that rather than arguing, let us refer to the agreement signed by both parties because if we agree with this, we can even finalise the water agreement tomorrow,” he said.
