CM: DEIG not yet operational, strengthening governance

SHAH ALAM, 28 Aug: There were no asset transactions or activities conducted by Darul Ehsan Investment Group (DEIG) since it was established in May.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the state government wants to ensure that DEIG’s governance structure is strong before the company begins operations.

Therefore, he said that any allegations against DEIG are not true, in fact they have all been answered during the last Selangor State Assembly (DNS) session.

“If we go by the rules of the DNS, the state government can respond to each statement presented at the next session, but I did not follow that option.

“I continued to hear presentations and arguments and also gave a notice to the Speaker to answer it immediately in the assembly so that there will not be any slander or misunderstandings that arise.

“During the 37 minute explanation, I stressed that DEIG is not yet operational, no transaction and no activity,” he said.

He said this during the Selangorku Housing Financing Special Scheme Agreement at the State Government Secretary’s Office foyer today.

Mohamed Azmin said that the Selangor government wants DEIG to be controlled with additional provisions to prove that the state practices principles of trust, accountability and transparency.

At the same time, he also denied that the DEIG had carried out the Request for Interest (RFI) and the Request for Proposal (RFP) to carry out land development at three areas.

“RFI, RFP are MBI assets, DEIG has not yet managed MBI assets.

“We are open to recommendations regarding DEIG because we want to do it with the best governance, that is why we are not yet operational,” he said.
