Let’s Read for 10 Minutes managed to add 40,000 participants

SHAH ALAM, 6 Aug: The ‘Let’s Read for 10 Minutes’ campaign organised by the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) managed to record an increase of 40,000 this year.

The increase saw the participation of 2.54 million people, compared with 2.5 million in 2014.

The PPAS Director, Mastura Mohamad, said that she is pleased with the improvement and is drawing up strategies to involve greater participation of electronic media such a radio stations to publicise the campaign.

“The increase in participation is partly due to our collaboration with the National Library for the success of the campaign.

“We want to deliver large messages to young generation that reading is very important,” she told Selangor Kini.

She said that the annual activity that began in 2014 took place on April 24 in conjunction with the World Book Day.

Mastura said that PPAS is also hosting the “Malaysia Mengaji” programme ‘which started last month on the 10th Ramadan.

The campaign will continue next year and aims to create awareness among the people to read and appreciate the Al-Quran.
