SHAH ALAM, 8 Aug: The federal government should provide immediate clarification on the change of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers so that there is no perception that there is political interference and punitive penalties.
Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, was shocked and disappointed that the Special Operations Division Director, Datuk Bahri Mohamad Zin, and the MACC Strategic Communications Director, Rohaizad Yaakob, was re-designated after their meeting with several MPs from the opposition.
“Because of interference and threats against members of the MACC are clearly continuing, I ordered members of KEADILAN to make a police report and hold an assembly to support the MACC at all MACC offices across the country,” said Wan Azizah, who is also the PKR President in a press statement.
Previously, the MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Shukri Abdull, asked for two of his senior officers to be returned by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
He even offered himself as a substitute because the were only acting under orders.
Meanwhile, Bahri, who is handling the high-profile case, opposed the ‘harassment’ against the MACC and swore by Allah to find the mastermind who ordered the arrest of his officers.
