SHAH ALAM, 14 Aug: About 23 residents of the Puteri Arafiah Shelter here were celebrated in a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration on August 12.

Also present was the Chairman of the Selangor Welfare and Women’s Charity Association (PEKAWANIS), Shamsida Taharin; the Seri Serdang Assemblyman, Noor Hanim Ismail; and the Manager of the Puteri Arafiah Shelter, Norhayati Mohd Yusoff.

Shamsida said that they are developing several proposals to enhance and provide learning programmes for coaches in the home.

“Right now, we do not intend to expand this house. What will be done is we want some knowledge programmes to strengthen their recovery.

“Right now, we have helped them in the past two year in recovering,” she told Selangor Kini.

The Puteri Arafiah Shelter is a care and protection for teenage girls under the age of 21 by PEKAWANIS which was established since June 2011.

It aims to help teenagers who have been involved in social ills to get back on the correct path.
