SHAH ALAM, 6 Aug: Selangor aims for the state to be a platform South-East Asian National (ASEAN) to market their products to the world.
The Exco for Investment, SME Investment & Trade and Transport, Datuk Teng Chang Khim, said that the focus of the investment will be in small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
“Selangor is now trying to get all ASEAN panel countries so that we can work as a team, especially in the ASEAN economic medium community,” he said in a meeting with about 30 investors from manila, the Philippines, recently.
He said that the Selangor economic structure shows that 55 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is from the services industry, while 30 percent is from the manufacturing sector.
Thus, he said that Selangor will be the focus of investment, this making the state an investment gateway for ASEAN nations.
“Selangor will also host the largest trade expo, the Selangor International Expo (SIE) 2015 from 26 to 28 November at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC).
“The state needs a platform for manufacturers and businesses, that is why we are taking the initiative to organise this expo,” he said.
