Eight areas record unhealthy API readings this morning

SHAH ALAM, 29 Sept: Eight areas recorded unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) readings as of 10 am today.

According to the Department of Environment (DOE), the areas that recorded unhealthy API readings are Larkin Lama in Johor with the highest reading of 127, followed by Balok Baru, Kuantan (124).

In addition, the City of Malacca recorded a reading of 116, (115), Bukit Rambai (112), followed by Pasir Gudang in Johor and Indera Mahkota, Kuantan, each recording 110 and 108. The API reading in Samarahan, Sarawak was 104.

A total of 29 other areas recorded moderate readings with Kemaman, Terengganu, recording the highest reading of 99, followed by Sarikei, Sarawak and Paka, Terengganu with the same reading of 85.

Meanwhile, 14 areas recorded good API readings.

API readings between 0 to 50 is good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (hazardous).
