MBPJ present Budget 2016 which amounts to RM397 million

PETALING JAYA, 6 Oct: The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) presented the budget with an expense of RM397.16 million compared to the revenue of RM357.18 million obtained for 2016.

The Mayor of Petaling Jaya, Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain, said that the revenue rose by 9.61 percent, RM31.32 million, compared to this year, RM325.85 million.

He said that the management expenditure for MBPJ is RM335.8 million compared to RM315.1 million for this year while development expenditure is RM61.3 million compared to RM56.6 million this year.

It recorded a deficit of 11.19 percent to meet the people’s expectations that are so high, as well as MBPJ’s commitment to develop the area under its jurisdiction.

“The percentage of deficit proposed is less compared to this year, 14.07 percent and to meet this desire, a shortage of revenue of 11.19 percent is accommodated by the access in collected MBPJ reserves.

“MBPJ is confident that the proposed use of this reserves will not explain the finances for the upcoming period,” he said during the presentation of the MBPJ 2016 budget today.

He said that sustainable development proposed comprises of six sectors, namely the transport sector, infrastructure, business, housing, industrial and recreational parks, and public facilities.

“Themed ‘Sustainable Development’, it aims to make the MBPJ administrative area a sustainable and livable city,” he said.

He said that MBPJ will continue to improve infrastructure such as roads and drainage, as well as sanitary services because it is the backbone of the service.
