MPK intensifies enforcement for business goods that disturb the public

SHAH ALAM, 9 Oct: Enforcement and seizure operations for business goods left on government land will be intensified by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) in areas under their jurisdiction.

The MPK Head of Corporate Communications, Norfiza Mohfiz, said that among the sites that received complaints is around Bukit Tinggi and several areas have been identified for further action.

She said that MPK does not compromise with issues related to items left behind because it is against the laws set, in addition to obstructing the public areas.

“Thirteen premises were inspected and eight of them had items seized such as gas tanks (28), tables (3), stoves (6) and action was taken under Section 46 (1) (d) of the Street, Drainage and Buildings Act 1974 for the offence of obstruction in public areas.

“The operation conducted involved the Department of Licensing, Enforcement, Environmental and Building Services Department.

Norfiza said that pavements of the business premises are for the use of pedestrians in front of the premises, however it is mostly used by owners to conduct their business activities.

She said that these structures that are built do not have permits or approval from MPK because it is built on government reserve land and received many complaints.
