Pulau Ketam residents need business premises TOL

SHAH ALAM, 12 Oct: The business premises for the residents in Pulau Ketam need to be given the Temporary Occupancy Licence (TOL) like their housing.

The Selat Klang Assemblyman, Dr Halimah Ali, said that this is because the TOL issued by the state government only covers the area where they live alone.

“This is a concern voiced by the residents. They want their business premises to be also given TOL.

“This is because many business premises are adjoining or near their settlements,” she told Selangor Kini.

Dr Halimah said that the issue of land ownership in the area has been risen over the years, however the initiative to give TOL was just seen after the state government changed hands.

“Prior to this, the residents wanted TOL to be granted for the housing sites. However, businesses were not included in the TOL.

“So, they hope that business premises will also be given TOL involving the area consideration obtained before,” she said.

Prior to this, the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, vowed to look into the issue of granting TOL to 1,300 residents of Pulau Ketam and wants to expand the existing jetty.

Although the population once reached about 20,000 in mid-1980s, now Pulau Ketam only has 1,300 families with the majority of them being Chinese of Teochew, Hainan and Hokkien descent.
