SHAH ALAM, OCT 31: To ensure that the rakyat’s prosperity is prioritised, the State Government has allocated RM1.8 billion, or 52.2%, from the total of RM3.45 billion budgeted for 2017, for development.

Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the development allocation for 2017 increased by RM360 million of 25% compared to the previous budget, making it the biggest allocation for development in Selangor’s budget.

“Selangor has once again become a pioneer by ensuring that development allocation exceeds administrative allocation.

“The Federal Budget tabled by the prime minister is foolhardy as it only allocated 18% for development,” said Mohamed Azmin while tabling the 2017 Selangor Budget at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly on October 31.

He explained that RM1.093 billion, or 60.7% was allocated under infrastructure, which included new construction projects and road upgrades, irrigation and drain maintenance as well as water supply development projects.

He said that RM250.25 million or 13.9% was allocated to boost the state’s economic sector through housing development programmes including low cost strata housing, transport, industry and investment, forestry, veterinary services and country and town planning.
