PETALING JAYA, AUG 28: A total of 50 cancer patients received wheelchair donations, handed over by Dato’ Menteri Besar’s wife, Datin Seri Shamshida Taharin in the Dr Yasmeen’s Grand Holistic Talk Programme yesterday.
The organiser, Dr Yasmeen Farouk Mohamed said, the wheelchair recipients were chosen from among those who cannot afford them.
“I have run this programme for almost 10 years and every six months we will focus on different things.
“This time we donate wheelchairs to 50 selected cancer patients,” she said to SelangorKini.
She added, a similar programme is also conducted to give moral support and advise to the cancer patients.
“Through this programme, I offer the cancer patient a point of reference for them to get advise on the healthy eating habits and healthier lifestyle.
“So far, we have over 320 members consisting of cancer patients from stage 1 to stage four,” she said.
Yasmeen who is also a researcher, informed that eating healthy is the main thing that cancer patients need to emphasize.
“Good eating habits can actually prolong their lives with the permission from Allah. Our body is our own responsibility.
“Cancer patients need to exercise, eat a lot of vegetables and fruits after chemotherapy besides reducing sugar intake, as it can cause cancer to spread,” she said.
