SHAH ALAM, 30 JAN: The State Government will dissolve the Selangor State Legislative Assembly earlier if the Federal Government still will not give any indication of the date parliament will be dissolved.

Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the State Government is of the opinion that the 13th General Elections (GE-13) cannot be further delayed and is ready to dissolve the State Assembly earlier to give mandate to the people to elect a new government.

“If the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak still does not announce the dissolving of parliament, the State Government proposed to dissolve the State Legislative Assembly earlier, which is after Chap Goh Meh,” he said in a press conference at the State Secretariat Building here today.

Abdul Khalid said that previously, the State Government refused to dissolve the State Assembly simultaneously with the Federal Government if the dissolving took place in June last year because of wanting to complete the State Government’s annual budget which was still incomplete.

“We refused to join the GE-13 if the dissolving took place in June last year because I had to wait a full year to manage the previous 2011 budget,” he added.

During the 12th General Elections (GE-12) which was held in March 2008, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) had the mandate from the people of Selangor to form a new State Government.
