Promote Kuala Selangor to the Land of The Rising Sun

KUALA SELANGOR, AUG 28: Tourism products in Kuala Selangor will be promoted in Japan at the JATA Tourism Expo Japan 2017 which is scheduled to be held this September 21 to 24.

Yang Dipertua of Kuala Selangor District Council (MDKS), Mohd Azhar Mohamed Ali said, the council and Tourism Selangor will be promoting interesting destinations in the district including historical sites and unique destinations.

He said, these include Bukit Melawati, Kelip-kelip Kampung Kuantan and the newest attraction, Permatang Angsa which has been going viral with the ‘Salar De Uyuni’ (mirror-like reflection) phenomenon.

“We always working with Tourism Selangor for promotions and this is the biggest that we are doing, to Japan, with global tourism players.

“We also have collaborated with homestay association there, and the will come here at the end of this month. We will also counter-visit next month during the expo,” he said to SelangorKini.

Mohd Azhar said, Kuala Selangor receives over one million tourists in a year and it is main Selangor tourism contributor.

“On the average, Selangor receives approximately five to six million tourists a year, and Kuala Selangor alone attracts over 1 million.

“With the support from Tourism Selangor, the State Government and other stakeholders, Kuala Selangor will surely rise to be the preferred tourist destination in this state,” he said.

MDKS brings raya cheer to employees’ orphaned children

KUALA SELANGOR, JUNE 19: The Kuala Selangor District Council (MDKS) continued its tradition of giving ‘duit raya’ to 13 orphaned children of its employees recently.

MDKS Yang DiPertua, Mohd Azhar Mohamed Ali said, it is hoped that the contribution can help them to make preparations ahead of Syawal which is this weekend.

“This ceremony is MDKS’s platform to share some happiness and smiles of cheer with the orphans during Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“It is also a sign of MDKS’s concern of the children of its employees who are less fortunate and to also strengthen the bond between employer and employee,” he said during the Contribution Ceremony at the MDKS Quarters recently.

Besides handing over donations, MDKS also held a Break Fast Ceremony with its employees, Khatam al-quran Ceremony and religious sermon.

Earlier, Mohd Azhar also led the Program Ziarah Ramadan, visiting employees who are facing health problems.

150 women join Basic Self-Defense Course

KUALA SELANGOR, AUG 17:  A total of 150 women participants joined the Basic Women Self Defense Course 2016 at Dewan Sri Siantan, Kuala Selangor District Council (MDKS).

MDKS Yang Dipertua Noraini Roslan said the course is to teach women the importance of self-defense on being attacked.

“News of theft, rape and murder that often appear in newspapers certainly worries society. This has a profound impact on women, who are often the victims.

“Disaster and crime usually happen unexpectedly.  Women usually become victims of strangers and also of people they know, sometimes due to the fact that women are always seen as the weaker gender,” said Noraini.

She said that self-defense training can establish mental and physical endurance besides boosting confidence in cases of emergency.

The course is organided by MDKS. It managed to attract female participants of students and staff of Kuala Selangor District offices.

The briefing was given by Kuala Selangor Police Headquarters Criminal Division Head ASP Ramlee Bakar.
