Klang Third Bridge To Be Completed Within Stipulated Time

KLANG, 15 FEB: Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim gave his guarantee that the construction of the third Klang bridge will be completed within the stipulated time.

He said that the provisions for the construction of the 500 metre bridge has already been prepared through state reserves amounting to RM300 million.

“Selangor already has the funds which we had announced during the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) last year that at least RM300 million of the reserves will be used for the development of the bridge in Klang,” he said.

He said this when officiating the Klang Third Bridge Groundbreaking Ceremony at Jalan Tepi Sungai, Klang today.

Also present were members of the Executive Committee; Klang MP, Charles Santiago, Meru Assemblyman, Dr Rani Osman, Acting President of the Klang Municipal Council (MPK), Ehsan Mukri as well as members of the MPK.

According to Abdul Khalid, the process of selecting the design of the new bridge will begin next week, before the tender is issued.

“After (releasing) our tender, we will also announce its winner,” he added.

He said that the construction of the bridge has been set to finish between 18 to 24 months.

Previously, the Umno-BN Government had promised to build this third bridge in the year 2008 however, they did not fulfil this promise even though a Groundbreaking Ceremony was held.

The bridge, which will cross the Klang River, is important to road users, especially for Klang residents as Construction of a bridge across the Klang River is important to road users especially people in Klang for trekking unnecessary congestion in the city center of Kuala Lumpur Klang or the Port Klang.
