SHAH ALAM, 25 Apr: Selangor Umno has been asked to stop efforts to buy Selangor Pakatan Rakyat’s operations room with the aim of disabling the PR machinery in Selangor, claimed Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

Abdul Khalid also claimed that there have been efforts to buy votes by certain parties by sprinkling money at voters in Selangor.

“I challenge (Prime Minister Datuk Seri) Najib (Razak) to really respect the integrity of the Integrity Pledge, among others, to not practice a campaign of bribing the electorate.

“At the same time, I urge the people of Selangor to come forward to make a report and provide information if any candidate, agent or political party movers, offers cash while campaigning,” said Abdul Khalid in a press statement.

Abdul Khalid said that reports of bribing voters can be made to him, the Election Commission and the police.

“I hope that Transparency International will monitor this issue so that the elections can be conducted fairly and freely.”

At the same time, Abdul Khalid said that an excellence report for the administration of Selangor PR will be presented in Klang on 1 May, in conjunction with the manifesto tour that will be joined by PKR President, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

“We invite and welcome Barisan Nasional’s presence to witness this presentation, including the Chief Minister candidates from Barisan Nasional.

On a different issue, Abdul Khalid claimed that Najib does not respect the principled of federalism when the Umno-BN Chairman said that he will personally monitor Selangor if BN can conquer Selangor.

“(This) shows that not only is Najib disrespectful of sovereignty, but he also does not believe in the Umno Chief Minister candidate selected.

“I consider this as not a campaign of loving Selangor but (a campaign of) fooling the people of Selangor because of much misinformation about Selangor,” said Abdul Khalid.
