KUALA LUMPUR, 18 Apr: PKR De Facto Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim admits that Pakatan Rakyat (PR) uses the populist approach thus making it a pro-rakyat (pro-people) manifesto.

“The manifesto that is populist in nature is pro-people, for a long time now it (BN Manifesto) is pro-crony.

“Why was it acceptable when it was pro-Syed Mokhtar and pro-Ananda Krishnan,” he said in reference to the ‘Localising the Selangor Economy’ (Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor) slogan by the Selangor Government which he deems to be pro-rakyat and should exemplified.

Anwar said this when he was speaking at the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall for the Manifesting the Hopes of the People: A Conversation organised by Bersih programme.

Meanwhile, PKR Strategy Director, Rafizi Ramli, said that the PR manifesto can be implemented with PR’s determination to combat corruption, wastage and leakage.

Thus, according to him, PR will practice ‘zero tolerance’ against any leader found to be involved in corruption, including PR leaders, in the event of winning the 13th General Elections (GE-13).

BN’s move to plagiarise PR’s manifesto also received sarcasm when Rafizi claimed that the BN manifesto seemed ‘familiar’.

Earlier, when Anwar arrived, he received warm welcomes from about 1,000 attendees but the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, once again failed to confront Anwar.

Najib had previously rejected several invitations to debate with Anwar with the excuse that debating is not the culture in this country.

When the emcee announced Najib’s absenteeism, the crowd was clearly disappointed, asking if talking is also not the culture of this country.
