KUDANG, 28 Apr: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) candidate for the Kuang constituency, Tengku Maraziyah Tengku Sulaiman is determined to represent the voices of women if she manages to become the elected representative in the 13th General Election (GE-13).
According to him, a huge portion of voters in the area consists of women, thus it is her duty to fight for them.
“Into my sixth day of campaigning in the Kuang constituency, it looks like the reception from the community is very positive because in my opinion, a female candidate is closer to the hearts of voters.
“I have been visiting villages to meet with voters and surprisingly, they welcomed me well as a female candidate,” she said.
She told reporters after visiting the night market in Kundang with Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim this afternoon.
She added that the issue of locals and new candidates which is frequently brought by certain parties does not discourage her to win the hearts of the people in the constituency.
In fact, she said, she is confident of giving stiff competition to the BN constituency incumbent, Abdul Shukur Idrus.
“I have no problem and people say I’m a new face. Those are the people who are disappointed with my nomination here.
“I have been involved in the Selayang Parliament since 2000 and Kuang is my ‘hangout’ place for me and other female party members. The villagers receive me well,” she added.
Kuang constituency will witness a three-sided clash between Tengku Maraziyah (PKR) against the BN candidate which is the incumbent, Abdul Shukur Idrus and Independent candidate, Zahariman Abd Latip.
