SHAH ALAM, 8 Apr: Four men were caught by a group of PAS supporters in an incident in Semenyih yesterday evening when they were hanging up banners that are provocative and instills the fear of Islam and Pakatan Rakyat.

Selangor PAS Commissioner, Dr Abdul Rani Othman, revealed that the four men, estimated to be in their 20s to 30s, used a Perodua Myvi plastered with the 1Malaysia logo.

They then were taken to the Semenyih Police Station where a police report was made by PAS for further investigation.

“This is one example that we could capture, but the fact is that this act (installing anti-PAS banners) is on the rise around other areas such as Shah Alam, Meru, Subang and so on.

“If you look at it, the intent of these banners is defamatory with the intent of raising sensitive sentiments and is made as if it were issued by PAS or DAP,” he explained while showing an example of the banner which was managed to be brought down by PAS supporters.

The banner was written in Chinese and stated that every vote for PAS is a vote for an Islamic state and the implementation of the Hudud law.

The Deputy Commissioner of PAS, Khalid Samad, with no doubt said that this unhealthy act is one of Umno-BN’s desperate measures to recapture Selangor.

“Even statements such as the PAS Information Bureau mentioned in the banner is incorrect because PAS does not use ‘bureau’, we use ‘committee’ (lajnah). Only Umno uses ‘bureau’.

“Another question is, whoever is funding the provision of these banners are certainly spending a lot,” Khalid stressed.
