Dr Dzul: GPSM Should Highlight GE-13 Problems

SHAH ALAM, 15 May: The call to forfeit citizenship of Malaysians who object the results of the 13th General Election (GE-13) is a reactive action based on emotion.

Central PAS Research Centre Executive Director, Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said that it also ignored problems that impaired the voting process on that day.

Dr Dzulkefly said the Peninsular Malay Students Coalition (GPSM), as the largest student coalition, should be more proactive to raise the issue to be resolved.

The Kosmo newspaper reported that GPSM, through the Secretary General, Zambri Mohd Isa, wants the citizenship of 21 Malaysians who protested against the GE-13 fraud in Singapore last Wednesday to be forfeited.

Zambri said their actions tarnish the image of the country.

“It seems that GPSM does not understand background matters such as not wanting or refusing to accept the fact that the election was loaded with the matter in dispute.”

He added that the people who objected the GE-13 results arose from the serious concern on Malaysian democracy.

“Exhortation to forfeit citizenship is taken in a very emotional way.

“Protests such as this are still democratic in nature, in addition to the evidence which is becoming more apparent and widespread,” said Dzulkefly.
