SHAH ALAM, 31 May: The Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament, Nurul Izzah Anwar will drag the Sabah Government to court to challenge their action of preventing her from entering the land below the wind.
Penampang MP Darrell Leiking will lead a legal committee in Sabah to take legal action against the Chief Minister which will be filed in Kota Kinabalu soon.
PKR will also send an official letter to the Sabah Chief Minister’s Office to submit a formal complaint and to receive a full explanation regarding the action.
The party will also ask for a list of names of those barred from entering Sabah, as well as the reasons as to why they are prevented, said Nurul Izzah in a press conference here.
“The issue of national security and boundaries should never be politicised.
“The move to prevent me from entering the Land Below the Wind is happening at a time when Sabah is facing border exhaustion.
“Including the illegal issuing of identity cards as is being investigated by the Sabah Royal Commission of Inquiry.
“The State Government should focus on regulating the pressing problem of boundary exhaustion.
“Instead of abusing power by denying the democratic rights and political activities of Pakatan Rakyat leaders in order to defend Umno or BN’s position,” said Nurul Izzah.
Nurul Izzah was stopped at the entry door of the immigration at the Kota Kinabalu Airport yesterday when she arrived in Sabah. Her identification card was confiscated and she was ordered to return home.
Nurul Izzah claimed that the move was directed from the Sabah Chief Minister’s Office.
She went to Sabah to celebrate the Kaamatan harvest festival together with the local residents which will take place on Saturday.
Nurul Izzah said that the Sabah Government has violated national law for preventing a citizen from entering a state under Section 67 of the Immigration Act 1959/1963.
